ANANTA Release Date: None Has Ever Been Announced. The Licence Granted 588 Days Ago, 17.3 Million Pre-Registrations and 312 Days of Silence

ANANTA has no release date. It has no release month, no release season and no release quarter either, and it has never had one, in China or globally, from NetEase or from Naked Rain. As of 3 August 2026 there is no first-party document, press release, earnings call or interview that attaches a day to this game.

One number exists and it is a bare year: 2026. That year did not arrive in an announcement. It was printed in presentation materials NetEase showed Famitsu ahead of Tokyo Game Show 2025, and producer Ash Qi addressed it in an interview published on 1 and 2 October 2025 by confirming the target "is not incorrect" while declining to restate it as a commitment. His exact follow-up was that the team would "like to announce the release timing to everyone again when we reach a stage where we can provide more specific information". That sentence is ten months old and it is still the strongest forward-looking thing on the record.

Everything else about ANANTA is dated to the day, which is why this query gets answered so badly. There is a Chinese publishing licence with an approval number, an ISBN and a grant date. There is one technical test with a date and a city. There is a pre-registration counter that moves every few minutes. There are two earnings calls that mention the game by name. None of those is a release date, and the pages ranking on this query keep presenting them as if one of them were.

Four different things get filed under "release date" here

Frame from the official ANANTA Gameplay Trailer, 7 minutes 20, published 23 September 2025 on the operator's YouTube channel

Every page competing on this query fuses these four, and only the first one answers what a player is actually asking.

An announced release date. A day, from the operator, on which the public can play. ANANTA has none, in either region, and has never had one. Neither does it have the softer version: no month, no season and no quarter has ever been printed by NetEase against this title.

A test date. Exactly one exists and it was 3 January 2025, offline, in Hangzhou, by invitation, on the operator's own hardware. It was not a downloadable build. The "Closed Beta Test 1" dated to 16 to 20 January 2026 that circulates widely is a single leaker's claim, reported on 15 January 2026, which NetEase never announced and never confirmed.

A pre-registration. One counter, opened at the full reveal on 5 December 2024, shared between the global site and the Chinese one. It reads 17,368,230 as of 16:44 UTC on 3 August 2026. Signing up is a marketing milestone, not a countdown.

A storefront listing. Zero exist. Not a live page, not a "coming soon" placeholder, not a wishlist button. Checked on 3 August 2026 against Steam, the App Store, Google Play and the PlayStation Store.

Readers arrive here expecting a store countdown, because that is how every comparable unreleased title announces itself. There is nothing to count down. The sign-up is a first-party web form on anantagame.com, and in China on ananta.163.com, and nothing else.

Where the "2026" figure actually comes from

Frame from the official ANANTA Announce Trailer, published 5 December 2024, the upload that opened global pre-registration

The year is real but it is second-hand, and its provenance matters because it is the only thing anyone has to work with.

NetEase included a 2026 target in presentation materials it showed Famitsu ahead of TGS 2025. When the interview ran on 1 and 2 October 2025, Ash Qi did not repeat the year as a plan. He confirmed it had been in the materials, said it was not incorrect, and said the studio would announce release timing again once it could be more specific. That is an acknowledgement, not a commitment, and no NetEase press release has ever carried the figure.

It has been referenced twice since, both times on earnings calls, and both times without a date attached. On 11 February 2026, on the Q4 2025 call, VP of Corporate Development Bill Pang said development was "progressing steadily on ANANTA" and that the team was "building on our available insight from previous testing". That was the sole mention on the call, and note the singular: previous testing, one test. On 21 May 2026, on the Q1 2026 call, CEO William Ding described the game's "distinctive urban open world positioning, a relentless pursuit for content quality", with the team focused on refining content quality rather than on meeting a launch window. No date, no quarter and no test came out of either call.

Two invented windows are circulating and both are worth naming. Several aggregators print that "the full Global release is being targeted for the end of Q3 2026 (July to September)", usually attributed to nobody or to unnamed investors. No NetEase document has ever named a quarter for this game. NetEase did give a Q3 2026 window on the 21 May 2026 call, for its sibling title Sea of Elements, in the same segment as ANANTA: a quarter migrated from one title to another. Separately, at least one countdown site has been running a clock to an "Ananta PC release" of 30 July 2026, and CN SEO farms print 公测定档2026年7月, public beta locked to July 2026. That date has now elapsed with no launch, which is the cleanest available demonstration that it was never real.

The Chinese licence, approved 23 December 2024

This is the hardest dated fact bearing on an ANANTA launch, and almost no English page carries it.

ANANTA, under its Chinese title 无限大, received its Chinese publishing licence in the National Press and Publication Administration's December 2024 domestic batch. The approval date on the record is 23 December 2024. The batch of 118 titles was published the following day, with ANANTA at entry 98.

Three things follow. A commercial Chinese launch cannot legally happen without this licence, so the regulatory gate has not been the obstacle since December 2024: as of 3 August 2026 the licence has sat granted for 588 days with no Chinese launch. The operating unit is Hangzhou NetEase Leihuo Technology, which puts the Chinese operation inside NetEase's own Thunderfire group rather than with a third-party publisher. And the platform scope is the only regulator-stamped document that resolves any part of the platform question, which matters below.

Wikipedia is currently the only widely read English page that mentions the approval at all, and it prints "December 25, 2024". That matches neither the approval date of 23 December nor the batch publication of 24 December. The same entry lists the publisher as "NetEase Games Montreal"; NetEase's own release of 22 September 2025 says the developer is Naked Rain, with studios in Hangzhou and Montreal, and the publisher is NetEase Games. Montreal is a studio location, not the publishing entity.

One test, and it was January 2025, not January 2026

Frame from Project Mugen, Disclosure of Production Information, published 28 November 2024 on the operator's YouTube channel, the upload that disclosed the rename to ANANTA

This is the most repeated error on this topic and it deserves the correction on the record.

Recruitment for the only documented test opened on 5 December 2024 at 10:00 CST, through a questionnaire, and closed on 18 December 2024. The test itself ran on 3 January 2025 in Hangzhou. It was an offline, in-person, invited technical test on the operator's hardware, described in Chinese trade coverage as the game's first offline invited test. There was no downloadable client, so a wipe policy is not a meaningful concept for it, and no NDA has ever been published either way. Record that as "no NDA published", not "no NDA". The 11 February 2026 earnings call reference to "previous testing" is the operator confirming this test retrospectively, and it is singular.

The other test does not exist as a confirmed event. On 15 January 2026 one outlet, citing one leaker, published a "Closed Beta Test 1" running 16 to 20 January 2026, PC, Chinese players only, with a 46 GB build and requirements listing an i7-10700, an RTX 3060 and 60 GB of SSD space. NetEase announced nothing, confirmed nothing, and published nothing at all on either official site or the YouTube channel in January 2026. Several English pages have since merged the real January 2025 offline test with the leaked January 2026 dates into a single event that never happened as described, helped by the leak calling itself "CBT1" when the actual first test was a year earlier.

One more trap sits on the Chinese site right now. ananta.163.com/survey/ is still reachable, titled 《无限大》招募问卷 and reading 《无限大》技术测试即将开启!, "ANANTA's technical test is about to begin". Its assets are stamped 22 November 2024. It is the December 2024 recruitment page for the January 2025 test, never taken down, and the CN homepage still carries the line 请先完成预约再报名测试, complete pre-registration before signing up for the test. It is not an open sign-up. No public beta or open beta has ever been held or announced for this game.

17,368,230 pre-registrations, one counter, two regions

The official ANANTA pre-registration key visual: five characters free-falling between white skyscrapers, the ANANTA wordmark, the tagline RULE-BREAKING URBAN OPEN WORLD, a PRE-REGISTER NOW button, www.anantagame.com, the NAKED RAIN studio mark and the copyright line reading 1997 to 2024 NetEase, Inc.

The copyright line on that key visual reads "©1997-2024 NetEase, Inc. All Rights Reserved". The campaign art self-dates to 2024, and the button on it still says pre-register.

The counter behind that button read 17,368,230 at 16:44 UTC on 3 August 2026, and 17,368,235 fourteen minutes later, read directly from NetEase's own endpoint. Two details in that endpoint are worth stating. Its path is projectmugen/yuyue202308, still namespaced to the codename abandoned in November 2024 and stamped with August 2023, the month of the Gamescom reveal. And the Chinese site calls the same endpoint and labels the same figure 全球预约人数, global pre-registration count. There is one counter, not two: the number a player sees on ananta.163.com is the number a player sees on anantagame.com.

The shape of the curve is the interesting part. Eleven million was reported on 24 September 2025 and 17 million on 14 May 2026, so roughly 6.4 million were added across those 232 days. In the 81 days since, roughly 368,000 have been added. Growth fell off sharply at the point the marketing channels went quiet, which is consistent with a counter that is being fed by campaigns rather than by momentum.

No storefront exists, anywhere

Pre-registration is a web form. It is not a store page, and there is no store page in any state.

StoreResult on 3 August 2026
Steamstoresearch returns total: 0 for "ananta"
App StoreiTunes Search API, US and JP, returns zero NetEase ANANTA results
Google Playcom.netease.ananta and four other plausible package ids all return HTTP 404
PlayStation Store (US)Search returns totalCount: 0

That matters because the highest-ranking page on this query renders clickable Steam, PSN, Google Play and App Store badges next to its platform list. None of the four resolves to a listing. There is nothing to wishlist and nothing to pre-order.

The monetisation model, stated exactly

Frame from the official ANANTA Teaser Trailer, published 29 November 2024, the first upload under the final name

On a gacha site this is the fact worth getting precisely right, because it is the one readers arrive holding backwards, and one page still ranking describes ANANTA's cast as characters "you gain through a gacha system".

A character gacha was explicitly ruled out, not merely left unannounced. Ash Qi told Famitsu, in the interview published 1 and 2 October 2025, that every playable character is unlocked by playing. Monetisation runs on cosmetics instead: outfits, vehicle customisation across cars, motorcycles, helicopters, planes and ships including paint and performance, and house decoration. His framing was "you can enjoy customization to your heart's content without charging", with paid items positioned as unique and special designs, and "if we can provide a really good game, players will give back to the creator in the way they want". Nothing has contradicted or refined that position since 2 October 2025.

Here is the guard that most coverage drops. What was ruled out is a character gacha. Nobody at Naked Rain or NetEase has ever addressed whether the cosmetics themselves are sold through a gacha. Several English pages assert there will be no cosmetic gacha either; no first-party statement supports that, at any tier. The claim that survives contact with a launch build is the three-part one: no character gacha, cosmetics monetisation, cosmetic-gacha question unanswered.

One adjacent data point from the operator's own mouth. On the 21 May 2026 call NetEase described sibling title Sea of Elements as monetising on character cosmetics, which reads as the same house direction rather than a one-off for this title.

Platforms: PlayStation 5, and no PlayStation 4

Frame from Ananta, Gameplay Trailer, published on the official PlayStation channel and filed under PS5 Games

NetEase's own TGS release names PC, iOS, Android and PlayStation 5. The Chinese licence names 移动, 客户端 and PlayStation 5 specifically. Sony's own channel files both of its ANANTA cuts under PS5 Games, as above.

PlayStation 4 appears in two English outlets and in nothing else. There is no first-party statement supporting it at any tier, and the regulator's record contradicts it. Anyone planning around a PS4 build is planning around a page's typo.

Two smaller platform details are worth carrying, because the operator publishes them and nobody repeats them. The platform strip on anantagame.com shows PC, Apple, Android and PS5 icons, a cloud-streaming icon labelled PlayStation, and the literal string "and more...". The Chinese site labels its platforms PC, 主机 and 移动, console rather than a named console. So the platform list is four confirmed plus an operator-authored open end, not a closed set.

What 312 days of silence looks like

Frame from Ananta, Gameplay Video, 10 minutes 27, the TGS mission demo published 25 September 2025 and still the most recent upload on the official channel

That video is the last thing the operator published. The channel holds seven videos in total and has added none since 25 September 2025, which is 312 days as of 3 August 2026.

ChannelLast published itemSilence as of 3 August 2026
Official YouTube, @Ananta_Game25 September 2025, "Ananta | Gameplay Video"312 days
anantagame.com news list24 September 2025, "Gameplay Video"313 days
ananta.163.com news list12 February 2026, a Lunar New Year greeting, not game news172 days

Two scheduled opportunities to break that came and went. ANANTA was not in the published lineup for the NetEase 520 Online Conference on 20 May 2026, which carried more than 40 titles, and it did not appear. It is not on the gamescom 2026 lineup NetEase announced on 18 July 2026, which named Marvel Rivals, Where Winds Meet and Sea of Remnants.

Silence is not evidence of trouble and we are not going to present it as such. It is evidence that no date exists to announce, because an operator with a date to give does not sit on it for ten months while a pre-registration counter runs.

Three dates will say where this lands

13 August 2026, after close. NetEase reports Q2 2026 earnings. This is the next occasion on which the company is obliged to say something in public about its pipeline, and the two previous calls each produced exactly one ANANTA sentence with no date in it. A third such sentence tells you the year is still soft. A quarter, a test window or a launch month on that call would be the first hard forward figure since the Famitsu materials.

26 August 2026. gamescom opens in Cologne, with Opening Night Live the evening before on 25 August. NetEase named three titles for it on 18 July and ANANTA was not among them, so a date landing there would have to come as a surprise drop rather than a scheduled beat. The game was revealed at this show three years ago, on 24 August 2023.

17 September 2026. Tokyo Game Show 2026 opens at Makuhari Messe, running five days for the first time in its 30th edition, business days on the 17th and 18th and public days from the 19th to the 21st. The exhibitor roster has not been confirmed for ANANTA. This is where the game was playable in 2025, and it is the single most likely stage for a Chinese or Japanese launch window if one comes this year.

We will update this piece the moment any of those produces a date, a window or a quarter. Until then the answer to the query is that none of the three exists, and the 588-day-old Chinese licence is the closest thing to a launch signal anyone has.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ANANTA release date? There is none. No release date has ever been announced for ANANTA, in any region, by NetEase or Naked Rain, as of 3 August 2026.

Is ANANTA coming out in 2026? The only source for 2026 is NetEase's own presentation materials shown to Famitsu, which producer Ash Qi acknowledged on 1 to 2 October 2025 without committing to. It was last referenced on the 21 May 2026 earnings call, where the team was described as prioritising content quality over a launch window. Treat it as a target that has never been reaffirmed as a plan.

Was there an ANANTA beta in January 2026? No confirmed one. The "Closed Beta Test 1" dated 16 to 20 January 2026 comes from a single leaker, reported 15 January 2026, and NetEase never announced or confirmed it. The only documented test was on 3 January 2025 in Hangzhou, offline and by invitation.

Can I sign up for an ANANTA test right now? No. The recruitment page at ananta.163.com/survey/ is still live and still says a technical test is about to begin, but its assets are stamped 22 November 2024: it is the December 2024 recruitment page for the January 2025 test and it was never taken down.

How many people have pre-registered for ANANTA? 17,368,230 as of 16:44 UTC on 3 August 2026, read from NetEase's own endpoint. One counter is shared between the global and Chinese sites, so that figure is not two numbers added together.

Is ANANTA on Steam, the App Store, Google Play or the PS Store? No, on all four, checked 3 August 2026. There is no listing in any state, including "coming soon" placeholders. Pre-registration is a web form on anantagame.com, and on ananta.163.com in China.

Does ANANTA have gacha? It has no character gacha. Producer Ash Qi ruled it out to Famitsu in an interview published 1 to 2 October 2025: every playable character is unlocked by playing, and monetisation runs on cosmetics. Whether those cosmetics are themselves sold through a gacha has never been addressed by the studio, so "no gacha of any kind" is not a claim anyone has supported.

Is ANANTA released in China already? No. It holds a Chinese publishing licence, 国新出审〔2024〕2681号, approved 23 December 2024, and it has held it for 588 days with no launch. The licence clears the legal gate; it does not date a release.

What platforms is ANANTA confirmed for? PC, iOS, Android and PlayStation 5. The Chinese licence names mobile, PC client and PlayStation 5 specifically. PlayStation 4 has never been stated by any first-party source, and the official site adds a cloud-streaming icon plus the literal string "and more...".

When will a release date be announced? Unknown. The next scheduled occasion for any operator statement is NetEase's Q2 2026 earnings call on 13 August 2026. After that, gamescom from 26 August 2026, where NetEase named three other titles, and Tokyo Game Show from 17 September 2026, where the roster is unconfirmed.
